Observations from the center stripe: Mr. Science edition

ALMOST SIX of 10 Republicans reject the theory of evolution and believe humans have existed in their present form since the beginning of time, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center. Overall, two-thirds of Americans accept Darwin’s theory…HOWEVER, 77 percent of adults in this country believe in angels, according to a survey by Associated Press-GfK…THEN THERE’S Nevada County and its notoriously low vaccination rate, something to think about as flu season kicks into high gear…MAJOR FLU outbreaks tend to fizzle if enough people are scared into getting vaccinated…IT’S NOT true that some people believe the U.S. was formed 2,014 years ago, and that New Year’s Eve is America’s birthday party. A guy actually tweeted that and some people picked up on it…TWO INNOVATIONS that never received the acclaim they deserve: The half-time scoreboard show, freeing football fans from marching bands, and speed bumps, a simple solution to a vexing problem.

    Did PEW ask if the respondents believed humans were a contraption that aliens created? You know, ape plus their DNA? Too funny.

    Regarding evolution, do you any info on why dinosaurs never evolved into an intelligent creature. Humans are here a couple hundred thousand years but the dino’s had 100 million to evolve. Oh well, questions no one can answer I suppose.
