LWV picks a bad night on short notice to showcase candidates

Nobody can fault the work of the League of Women Voters in educating the voting public about the candidates and issues of the day, particularly in an era when knowing little or nothing can make you a serious candidate for the highest office in the land.

But the league can get ahead of itself at times, and that appears to be the case with the scheduling of this week’s forum for District 1 supervisor candidates Duane Strawser and Heidi Hall, set for Thursday from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Rood Center.

Aside from the fact the event hasn’t received much publicity, the forum will be held at the same time as the VIP dinner that marks the end of the Economic Resource Council’s annual Economic Development Summit.

Some local movers-and-shakers who might otherwise be attending the forum will be at the dinner. If I was Hall or Strawser, that’s where I’d rather be too.
